We can’t start a discussion about Internet Marketing without starting with the end in mind. From my perspective, the way you start with the end in mind is to start with why.
Start with Why
Simon Sinek, author of Start with Why, did a fantastic TED talk that is worth every second of the 18 minute video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp0HIF3SfI4.
According to Simon, when you are clear on your why, then you will more easily communicate your why, you will attract people that think like you think, that believe the way you believe. You touch on the part of the brain that does not even understand language. You know when you just have that gut feel.
Seth Godin says that you are looking for people that have the same worldview. If you value quality in your work then you want to attract clients that value quality and innovation….if you value innovation. If you value being the least expensive option and a great value, then you want to find clients that are looking for that.
For me as I launch this blog I want to add value to people’s lives every day. Whether that is as simple as a smile to as complicated as helping people really think about how they communicate who they are, what they do and why it matters. I believe these are the key components of branding. Whether you are a person or a business it is all about communicating your personal brand.
